Manchester United Transfer News: Antony arrival ‘could’ force loan exit for Everton target Anthony Elanga

Anthony Elanga could leave Manchester United on loan if Antony arrives at Old Trafford from Ajax this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The South American superstar is nearing a move to Manchester and it could spell bad news for United’s youngster Elanga. The 20-year-old has just started to make a name for himself at the club.

He made his breakthrough under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and saw some playing time under Ralf Rangnick last season. There were questions about whether manager Erik ten Hag would continue trusting the youngster down the flank.

Anthony Elanga could also stay at Manchester United past this month.

But as it turned out, Elangan has featured in all three of their Premier League games this season, grabbing an assist in the process. Antony’s arrival could change that.

Antony in, Anthony out?

Jadon Sancho cost a pretty penny and he didn’t come to United to warm the benches. Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford would also want regular playing time, especially with a spot in their national team at stake for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Antony, similarly, would want to be a regular under Ten Hag. And the Dutchman wouldn’t have pursued him for so long if he didn’t think the same.

Hence, it would be a good move for Elanga to try and get some playing time elsewhere if we do sign Antony. He could expect to see some playing time at Everton, who lost Richarlison this summer and could also sell Anthony Gordon.

It remains to be seen if the Sweden international leaves us in the coming days but the club must ensure that his playing time isn’t compromised either way. He is a real talent and must be honed properly so he can fulfil his potential.
