Erik ten Hag doesn’t want low-on-confidence Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek to be loaned out
According to The Sun (h/t Express), Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag isn’t interested in a loan move for Donny van de Beek this summer even though the Dutch manager is worried about the 25-year-old’s lack of confidence.
Ten Hag is worried about Van de Beek. The former Ajax star hasn’t had the best of times in Manchester. However, the Dutch manager feels he can change the 25-year-old’s fortunes at United.
The Eredivisie champions have been linked with a move for their former star. But it seems Ten Hag is keen on bringing out the best of the 25-year-old at United.
Van de Beek spent the second part of last season on loan at Everton. The Holland international got the much-needed minutes on the pitch with the Toffees. However, the 25-year-old sustained an injury midway through his stint at Goodison Park.
Van de Beek has struggled at United
A lack of game time has left Van de Beek sulking on the bench. The Dutch midfielder arrived at Old Trafford in the summer of 2020. He managed 19 Premier League appearances in the 2020/21 campaign. The 25-year-old started four games in the league.
However, the previous season was disappointing for Van de Beek. The midfielder didn’t start a single game for United in the PL. Eventually, the 25-year-old left for Merseyside.
Since his return and reunion with Ten Hag in Manchester, things have looked a little promising. Van de Beek played a prominent role during the pre-season.
While he’s also featured in the first two games of the new season, they’ve been cameos at the end of the games. Fans have been left heartbroken after the team’s performances in the fixtures against Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford.
