Five signings planned as Manchester United look to make the most of transfer window before deadline

Manchester United are planning to make five signings before the end of the transfer window, according to The Telegraph (Subscription Required) [h/t Mirror]. With just a few weeks left before the deadline, the Red Devils look to make the most of it.

United have made just three additions to Erik ten Hag’s squad this summer. The hierarchy seemingly haven’t done enough to give the Dutch manager the tools to implement his ideas.

The first two games of the 2022/23 campaign have shown signs of how much work is needed for a turn of fortunes at Old Trafford. The whole squad needs an overhaul.

United are pushing to get in two new midfielders. Ten Hag’s reign has reiterated the fact that the middle of the park requires more quality. We’ve already lost the likes of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic this summer. A number six and a number eight should’ve been a priority in this transfer window.

Fans aren’t convinced of the current crop of midfielders. Fred and Scott McTominay have been regulars in the squad for some time now. However, the duo has failed to convince fans of their qualities.

A right-back is also on the agenda. Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bisskaa are the current options at Ten Hag’s disposal. But the future of the former Crystal Palace defender is uncertain in Manchester.

The Red Devils are also looking for a striker. Anthony Martial has been sidelined for the start of the campaign. Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at the club is in the balance.

A goalkeeper is also required, with Dean Henderson having left the club on loan this summer. David de Gea hasn’t looked confident in Ten Hag’s new system either.
