Transfer News: Inter Milan and AC Milan have turned down the chance to sign Cristiano Ronaldo this summer

According to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport (h/t Manchester Evening News) Jorge Mendes offered his client Cristiano Ronaldo to both Inter Milan and AC Milan. However, both the Milan clubs have turned down the offer to sign the 37-year-old.

The report adds that he had offered Ronaldo at the end of June and the start of July. But both clubs rejected the offer because they had no interest in meeting his wage demands.

Ronaldo had asked to leave the club last month. He has no interest in playing in the Europa League and wants to win some more trophies in what could be the twilight of his great career. His agent has been looking for a club for him, but to no avail.

The 37-year-old was open to moving to either side of Milan. He was happy with their history and their participation in the Champions League. But that seems unlikely to happen now.

A very anticipated homecoming turned into a disaster as his United side narrowly managed to finish sixth on the table and qualify for the Europa League this season. But that was just the start. Ronaldo did not join Erik ten Hag and the rest of the team during their pre-season.

He cited family reasons as the reason for missing out on the pre-season. Ten Hag benched him for their first game and started Christian Eriksen as the number nine. But that experiment backfired and he had to bring in the five-time Ballon d’Or winner for the second half.

Ten Hag started Ronaldo against Brentford, but the striker could hardly do anything as his side were trashed 4-0. Anthony Martial, who had a fantastic preseason, is out due to a hamstring injury. It remains to be seen when the French international will return to the team.

With the transfer window closing in a few weeks, there isn’t much time left for Ronaldo to find a new club if he wants to leave. A goal-scoring machine he could be the game-changing player for Ten Hag this season. But given the state of the team, that could take some time.
