Barcelona keeping an eye on Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot
Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot is a player La Liga giants Barcelona have an eye on. But the Catalans haven’t started any negotiations yet, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
Barcelona admire the 23-year-old. The Blaugrana internally have an appreciation for the Portuguese. However, United or Dalot’s entourage are yet to be contacted by the Catalan giants.
Erik ten Hag likes Dalot. The Dutch manager seemingly trusts the 23-year-old to be in his XI at the Manchester-based club this season. On the other hand, Aaron-Wan Bissaka’s future is uncertain.
The Portugal international has started the first two games of the 2022/23 campaign. Ten Hag has stuck with Dalot even though the results in the two games haven’t been positive.
Dalot spent the 2020/21 season on loan at AC Milan. The former FC Porto star was an essential member of the Italian side. But he returned to Old Trafford in the previous campaign.
Initially, Dalot didn’t get many opportunities under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Norwegian preferred Wan-Bissaka ahead of the Portuguese. But Ralf Rangnick’s appointment changed the 23-year-old’s fortunes.
Dalot started most of the games under the interim boss at United. And the trend appears to have continued under Ten Hag. However, fans of the Red Devils believe the club could do with more quality in the right-back spot.
The 23-year-old started in our losses to Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford. And the Portuguese didn’t have the best of performances. He made a few errors in both games.
