Manchester United players to have extra training session after Erik ten Hag cancels leave

According to The Sun (h/t Daily Mail), Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag has cancelled his players’ leaves. They have now been called to Carrington for an extra training session.

The players were due to have a day off following their trip to London on Saturday, but their shambolic performance has had such a leave cancelled. Instead, they are to have an extra training session.

United have got off to the worst possible start under a new coach having lost both their games. The opposition have torn apart United’s defence, while their attack doesn’t seem to know where the goal is.

Ten Hag’s men were blown away by the Brentford side as the Red Devils went 4-0 down inside the opening 34 minutes. David de Gea had a howler in-between goal while Lisandro Martinez struggled to keep up with the physicality of the Brentford team.

Free-flowing, attacking football with good defensive work was promised when Ten Hag took over the helm at United, but to date, it is the opposition who have played such promised football. The club’s embarrassing performances have left them mocked by their own fans and pundits.

The transfer market has not been kind either. After having been linked to Frenkie de Jong and Antony since the start of the transfer window, the club is nowhere near signing them. Their recent performances also do not help them in convincing those players to join the club.

Erik ten Hag has struggled to implement his policy and playing style at the club. After such a promising pre-season, there was hope that the club would begin its new era with a bang. But that has not been the case for the Manchester side.

Fans will hope that this extra training session actually helps the team improve their performance. They face a daunting task as they will host Liverpool next. Another trashing by their rivals could have a long implication on the team.
