Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is in positive spirits as the transfer window nears its culmination. The Dutch manager is adamant that the squad needs more strengthening this summer.

As of now, the Red Devils have made three additions to the team. Tyrell Malacia was the first player to walk through the door at Old Trafford. Then, the signings of Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez followed.

Giving his thoughts on whether the current United squad needed reinforcements via Metro, Ten Hag answered in the affirmative. The Dutch manager is optimistic about bringing in more players. He is “happy” about everyone at the club working together to bolster the squad.

“We have to. I am confident we will have [a better squad].

“I am happy. We are co-operating really well. I cannot talk about individual targets, or players who are under contract with other clubs.”

Ten Hag inherited a squad that was low on confidence after failing to make it to the top four in the previous campaign. Most fans were of the opinion that an overhaul was needed at United.

The arrival of the new manager. The shake-up has seen many departures from Manchester this summer. The midfield saw the most number of departures.

Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata left the club at the end of their contracts. The middle of the park has since seen only one player come in.

United are evidently short on midfielders. Thus, the side is looking to add depth to the engine room. The attack is also an area the management is focusing on this summer.

Ten Hag is keen on a versatile winger and a backup centre forward. The attack wasn’t able to have a big enough impact last season. Cristiano Ronaldo was the only forward to live up to the mark.
