Fabrizio Romano: Juventus keen to sell Adrien Rabiot to Manchester United and sign Leonardo Parades
According to popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Juventus are looking to sell Manchester United target Adrien Rabiot as soon as possible to try signing Leonardo Parades from PSG this summer.
Rabiot has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks. Erik ten Hag is supposedly keen on signing the midfielder and wants to bring him to Old Trafford from Turin as soon as possible.
Romano claims that Man United have an agreement with Juventus for a fee of €17m. However, meetings with the player’s entourage are yet to happen and have been scheduled to happen in the next few days.
Rabiot joined Juventus from PSG in 2019 for a free transfer. A product of PSG’s youth academy, Rabiot was very highly rated and his move to Italy was expected to be a huge success back when it happened.
It is fair to say that the Italian midfielder has not lived up to the hype. He has been a bit-part player at his best at Turin and has failed to convince. He is yet to nail down a spot for the Old Lady despite three seasons since.
In 45 games for the Italian giants last season, Rabiot failed to score a single goal and provided just two assists across all competitions. The Italian is a much better player than these numbers suggest and it is rather disappointing that he is unable to showcase his potential.
Manchester United are keen on signing a midfielder this summer but Rabiot does not seem to be the road that we must be taking. He has not shown anything worthwhile to suggest he can play for the Red Devils.
If the Red Devils are serious about challenging for trophies, it cannot happen until they move out of this mediocrity trap that they are stuck in. It is not very clear as to why Erik ten Hag wants to sign Rabiot.
