Fabrizio Romano confirms Manchester United interest in Cody Gakpo
According to the popular Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Manchester United have internally discussed the prospect of signing talented 23-year-old Dutch winger Cody Gakpo from PSV this summer.
Romano also claims that Gakpo will love a move to the Premier League if a club comes calling. One of the most talented wingers in the Eredivisie, it is only a matter of time before the top clubs come calling for the PSV man.
A product of the PSV youth academy, the talented young winger is a very all-rounded player for his age. Capable of scoring goals and creating chances for his teammates, it is no surprise that Gakpo is so highly rated.
It is not just Manchester United who are interested in the player with Chelsea and Arsenal linked with moves for the player some time ago. However, the interest from both those clubs seemed to have cooled down in recent weeks.
Gakpo played 46 times for PSV last season scoring 21 goals and providing 15 assists across all competitions. He has made a blistering start to this season as well, scoring thrice and assisting twice in four games so far.
The 23-year-old is one of the biggest prospects in European football and is a huge talent. He could be a great player in the future but anyone who has seen the Dutchman play knows that he has what it takes to be a success now.
Adding Gakpo to the mix will be a great option for the Red Devils. We already have a very exciting crop of wingers in our squad like Marcus Rashford, Anthony Elanga and Jadon Sancho and Gakpo will be another solid addition.
He is still very young and could be the future of the club along with other talented youngsters like Facundo Pellistri, Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo amongst other players.
