Simon Jordan has urged Manchester United to sign Tammy Abraham this summer

Simon Jordan has urged Manchester United to pursue AS Roma star Tammy Abraham this summer. The Red Devils are in need of a striker and Jordan believes that Abraham could be the answer.

Chelsea has the option to buy Abraham back for £67 million in 12 months’ time. The England international left the west London club to join the Italian side last summer.

While speaking to talkSPORT (h/t Express), Jordan questioned why United were not in the fray to land the Englishman. He believes United should sign top players and improve them.

Tammy Abraham scored 17, 18 goals last year, I’m not sure why he’s not in the conversation for Manchester United or Chelsea, or sides that clearly have a need for a certain type of player.

The Red Devils are in the market for a striker. They made an offer for Marko Arnautovic but pulled out after receiving backlash from their supporters. New coach Erik ten Hag is left in a dilemma.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s future is still uncertain, with the player starting the last game on the bench. Anthony Martial was in fine form during the pre-season but has now suffered a hamstring injury. This led to Christian Eriksen starting as a false nine in their defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion last Sunday.

Abraham would make an ideal signing for the Reds. The Englishman was in fine form as he scored 17 goals in 37 league appearances for Roma last season. A regular player under Jose Mourinho, he will be a tough one to negotiate for.

Even if United could manage to agree on a fee for the player, Chelsea would not like the idea of their rivals getting a striker before them. The Blues are also in a similar situation as United as they also could also do with a number nine.

It remains to be seen if they will enter the race to sign him in the future. Romelu Lukaku is on loan at Inter Milan and is set to return to Stamford Bridge next summer.

Considering the limited options in the market for a number nine, Jordan is not wrong in suggesting Abraham’s name. He would no doubt be a fine addition to the United squad. But whether Roma will be willing to negotiate for their star man remains to be seen.

Jose Mourinho seems to be building something special at Stadio Olimpico. It would be foolish of them, in all honesty, to let Abraham go when they have just signed Paulo Dybala and Georginio Wijnaldum to challenge for silverware.
