PSV Eindhoven will listen to offers for Manchester United target Cody Gakpo after 24 August
According to The Daily Record (h/t Metro), Manchester United target Cody Gakpo looks set to stay at PSV Eindhoven at least until 24 August as the Eredivisie club are reluctant to sell their star before then.
PSV face Rangers in the second leg of the Champions League play-offs on 24 August. The Dutch club are keen on acquiring a place in European football’s biggest competition. Thus, they want Gakpo to help them in that quest.
The 23-year-old is one of the best players in the Eredivisie. In 46 appearances for the Dutch side in the 2021/22 campaign, Gakpo scored 21 goals and provided 15 assists in all competitions.
Getting PSV’s talisman this summer will be a challenging task. The Holland international is attracting interest from other English clubs as well, such as Arsenal.
United need attacking reinforcements. The Manchester-based club were beaten by Brighton & Hove Albion in the first game of the Premier League campaign. The forward line disappointed fans once again.
United’s attack failed last season
The previous season was one that fans were glad came to an end. Unfortunately, the Red Devils faltered in every area of the pitch. Most of our attacking options failed to make a mark. Apart from Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes, no one contributed a decent amount of goals or assists.
Marcus Rashford looked a shell of his former self in the previous campaign. The England international started the new season against Brighton in a similar fashion.
Ten Hag opted to start Christian Eriksen as the centre-forward against the Seagulls with Anthony Martial out injured. The plan backfired. And even though Ronaldo came on in the second half, United weren’t able to get any points from the game.
