According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are looking into the signing of Marko Arnautovic from the Italian side Bologna this transfer window.

The Austrian played six seasons in the Premier League with Stoke City and West Ham United. Now the 33-year-old is plying his trade in Serie A.

Arnautovic has emerged as a target for the Red Devils after Anthony Martial picked up an injury before the first game of the season. But the Austrian has been impressive for Bologna, who aren’t keen on letting him leave. Juventus also have an eye on him.

Manchester United are considering making a move for Marko Arnautovic.

In the previous campaign, the 33-year-old played in 33 Serie A games for the Rossoblu, scoring 14 goals. The Austria international’s stint in the Premier League wasn’t bad either, scoring 43 goals and providing 37 assists in 184 appearances.

Any move for Arnautovic should be seen as a short-term fix for United. It’s not known for how long Martial will be on the sideline. We also have the uncertainty of whether Cristiano Ronaldo will stay at the club.

The Manchester-based club were disappointing in the final third last season. Only two players in the squad managed to have double digits in terms of goals in all competitions.

Ronaldo finished the previous campaign as our top goalscorer with Bruno Fernandes behind him. Unfortunately, the rest of the supporting cast didn’t have much of an impact.

Fans had high expectations from Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho. But the English duo failed to live up to the mark in the previous campaign.
