Manchester United are not considering a summer move for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer
Milinkovic-Savic has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks. But it seems United have no intention of going after the Lazio star.
The 27-year-old appeared to be a possible Frenkie de Jong alternative this summer. The Dutch midfielder is the only focus now, and a move for Milinkovic-Savic has been rubbished.
United have been after De Jong for a while now. The 25-year-old has been one of the main targets this summer for the Red Devils. But the likelihood of a move is uncertain even after such a long wait.
It would be prudent for the club to pursue alternatives at this moment. And the 27-year-old Serbian is a quality player. Last season in the Serie A, Milinkovic Savic scored 11 goals and provided 11 assists in 37 appearances.
The Lazio midfielder is exactly the type of player United lack at the moment. We need a prolific, box-to-box midfielder who has a great overall game. We need a number eight who can contribute in both areas of the pitch.
Paul Pogba left the Manchester-based club at the end of last season and we haven’t replaced him yet. The Frenchman was one of the best players in the squad, although he didn’t show it consistently.
Right now, we have players like Fred, McTominay, Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen, among others, in the squad to play in various midfield positions. What we lack is a world-class number eight.

De Jong is a brilliant player and going after him makes sense. But if the Holland international does not end up in a red shirt, we need to make a move for someone like Milinkovic-Savic.
