This season represents a new era at Manchester United, as Erik ten Hag is in charge and the Dutchman will be keen to make his mark early on the club.

Here is a look at three players who could flourish under the former Ajax boss at United in the 2022/23 campaign.

Christian Eriksen

Christian Eriksen was one of ten Hag’s first signings as the new United manager. The former Inter Milan and Tottenham midfielder has a lot of experience in the Premier League. He has also had a lot of success here.

United are 25/1 in the odds for the Premier League next season which suggests they have work to do still to close the gap on Manchester City and Liverpool. Signing players like Eriksen will hopefully help them do just that.

Ten Hag has brought in players who he believes will buy into his football philosophy. United are likely to be one of the popular in the early stages of the season as their recruitment has been very strong in the summer. Eriksen has joined the club on a free transfer and if he shows the same level of form as he did for Spurs between 2013 and 2020, that is going to prove to be very good business.

Harry Maguire

Last season was a very difficult year for Harry Maguire. He was singled out by a lot of fans and the media for his performances for United, which seemed quite unfair towards the most expensive defender in history.

Ten Hag has already come out and backed the England international. This is sure to give him a lot of confidence. Under this new management, it is the chance for Maguire to rebuild his reputation and show why the club paid so much money for him in 2019.

The United manager has added to his defensive options in the summer transfer window, and that competition should prove healthy. Maguire will be keen to get off to a good start with the World Cup on the horizon later this year.

Anthony Martial

French forward Anthony Martial has appeared in a number of United’s pre-season matches under ten Hag, which suggests the Dutchman sees him as having a future at the club under his watch.

Martial went out on loan at La Liga club Sevilla last season, as he did not seem to fit into Ralf Rangnick’s plans. It looked as though he had played his final game for United and that would have been the case had the German still been in charge.

The France international has had a lot of success in a United shirt. He has scored 79 goals for the club and was voted the Players’ Player of the Year in 2020. With his pace, ten Hag may see him as a good option in his attack.

Hopefully, United claim some silverware in ten Hag’s first season in charge, and it is the start of a very successful period at the club.
