Sevilla amongst several clubs interested in Manchester United left-back Alex Telles
Any possible deal depends on the Red Devils covering a part of Telles’ salary. In addition, there are two or three other clubs interested in the 29-year-old’s services.
There have been talks about a return to FC Porto on the cards for the left-back, but those suggestions have been shot down. It remains to be seen whether the Brazilian remains in Manchester after the end of the transfer window.
Erik ten Hag made his first signing at the club in the form of left-back Tyrell Malacia. The former Feyenoord defender has featured in most of the games during the pre-season and could be set for a big role next season.
Luke Shaw has been United’s first choice on the left-hand side of the defence for some years now. Having signed from Southampton in 2014, the 27-year-old has had his ups and downs in Manchester.
We’ve also signed Lisandro Martinez from Ajax Amsterdam last month. The versatile defender is capable of playing as a centre-back, left-back or in the defensive midfield position. This adds to Ten Hag’s options ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
Telles has three other players who can slot in his position. It’ll be challenging for the 29-year-old to contend for a place in the XI in the upcoming campaign. The World Cup is also around the corner and most players will be looking to get regular game time before the tournament starts.
In the Brazilian defender’s two seasons at the club, he has gotten plenty of time on the pitch due to Shaw’s injuries. But while Telles is decent in the attacking third, the 29-year-old’s defensive performances haven’t convinced fans.
