Cristiano Ronaldo still determined to leave Manchester United even after crunch talks

Even after holding a meeting with the Manchester United hierarchy alongside Sir Alex Ferguson, Cristiano Ronaldo is still determined to join a new club this summer, according to the Daily Telegraph (h/t Metro).

The Portuguese star returned to Carrington with his agent Jorge Mendes after speculation of the 37-year-old wanting to leave the club. It seems Ronaldo still wants a move away from Old Trafford after just one season back.

But the Red Devils have stayed resolute and are adamant about not wanting to let go of the legendary number seven. The club feel Ronaldo will play a significant part in Erik ten Hag’s plans.

Mendes has been trying to find a solution for his client. Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have all been given the option to sign the Portuguese.

For now, Ronaldo is still a United player and the club are determined to keep it that way. The 37-year-old returned to where he made a name for himself last summer on a two-year deal.

Fans were excited about the Portuguese star’s homecoming and he didn’t disappoint, ending the season as our top goalscorer with 24 goals. But the team severely underperformed.

Other forwards in the side were unable to live up to expectations. Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Elanga, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard were unable to put up decent numbers to support the attack.

Bruno Fernandes was our second top goalscorer with 10 goals. But going by his past standards, fans felt the 27-year-old’s performances in the previous campaign were inadequate.

Ronaldo is the talisman of the current squad. He’s a proven goalscorer and carried the side last season when others couldn’t. We can’t allow our top goalscorer to leave and strengthen a Premier League rival like Chelsea.
