Victor Osimhen is happy at Napoli amidst Manchester United interest
Speaking in an interview to Corriere dello Sport via Metro as quoted by Manchester Evening News, Napoli striker Victor Osimhen who has been linked with a move to Manchester United opened up on his future but did not reveal many details.
Manchester United have been on the lookout for a striker to reinforce the squad, especially with Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at the club far from certain. The Portuguese superstar might leave Old Trafford and that will leave us with only Anthony Martial as a striking option.
As good as the Frenchman has been during the pre-season under Erik ten Hag if history has taught us anything. Martial can always be extremely inconsistent and if he hits a rut, the Red Devils will need an alternative to turn to.
Marcus Rashford has played in that position before and can do a job as a striker but his best position is on the wing and playing him up top might not be the ideal solution to get the best out of the English superstar.
Signing Osimhen offers Man United a very interesting option. The Nigerian is a blistering presence up top and has shown his immense talent for the Serie A giants over the past few seasons, establishing himself as their main man.
Osimhen joined Naples from Lille in 2020 and has only grown from strength to strength. The 23-year-old played 32 times for the Italian club last season scoring 18 goals and providing six assists across all competitions.
Speaking about the speculation about his future and links to other clubs, Osimhen was rather insistent that he was happy at Napoli and did not reveal much else.
“They are just rumours of the market. I’m fine here and I’ve never had such close relationships with everyone as at this moment. I spoke to the president, he is the one who decides, and he reassured me by explaining the club’s plans. I am very happy to play with Napoli and we will see in the future.”
The Nigerian might be happy at Napoli for the time being but it will not be long before the talented striker makes his big-money move to an elite club. The Nigerian is destined for the very best in football and possesses immense talent.
