Olympiacos keen on taking Manchester United starlet Facundo Pellistri on loan
According to the Greek outlet SportDay (h/t The Sun), Greek champions Olympiacos have entered the race to sign talented Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri on loan.
The Uruguayan sensation is set to be loaned out yet again by Man United in a bid to get him regular game time with teams from both Italy and Portugal showing interest in the talented 20-year-old Red Devils winger.
Olympiacos are also in the race now to sign the Uruguayan starlet who has spent the last one and a half seasons out on loan at Spanish club Alaves. Whilst he might not have contributed much during his time in Spain, Pellistri did show a lot of promise.
He returned to Man United ahead of this season and was a part of Erik ten Hag’s pre-season plans, even managing to score a goal against Liverpool in their pre-season opener. However, the Dutch tactician is happy to loan the starlet out.
It is understandable considering the fact that with the number of options Man United have in the wing position, staying here might cost Pellistri valuable game time that he can use to continue his development.
In Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford, Man United have two world-class wingers. Anthony Elanga has made the step up to the first team and impressed during his time here and even Martial can play in the wings if needed.
Facundo Pellistri represents an exciting crop of young wingers that the Red Devils have in their ranks with Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo rounding off the list. It is not clear if any of them will stay for Ten Hag’s team next season yet.
The Uruguayan starlet already finds himself in the national team picture and has impressed in the chances he has gotten so far. Being loaned out and getting regular game time will only increase the chances of him getting a ticket on the plane to Qatar in November.

Pellistri is just 20. He is a talent for the future. Until he is first-team ready, it will be a wise option for us to loan him out and make him continue his development and that’s what we seem to be doing.
Erik ten Hag knows how to handle talented youngsters. If he believes loaning Pellistri out is the best option, then there is no reason why we must not trust him.
