Bruno Fernandes has his say on the future of Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes is unsure of Portuguese teammate Cristiano Ronaldo‘s future. It adds further fuel to what is looking like a saga that could last the summer.

The fans were unable to witness the legendary striker play under Erik ten Hag as he preferred to stay with his family due to personal issues rather than turn up for pre-season. The reason would have been deemed as a genuine one, however, it has still attracted a lot of attention.

The 37-year-old returned to Manchester United in 2021 but it could turn out to be a short sojourn. Erik ten Hag made it clear that he would want to see Ronaldo play next season and the club doesn’t plan to put him for sale.

The former Ajax manager has kept Ronaldo in his plans but there has been no response from the player himself regarding his decision. However, the club needs to find a solution if things would look serious on the Portuguese side.

Speaking after United’s win against Crystal Palace, Bruno Fernandes was asked about Cristiano Ronaldo’s absence. As cited by The Independent, the Portuguese midfielder said:

“I don’t know what Cristiano said to the club, to the manager, I don’t know what he’s got going into his head, but we have to respect his space. If he wants to leave, it’s all news. I didn’t ask them that.”

The former Juventus star and his agent have been on the lookout for potential suitors but by far they have been rejected by several elite clubs. Ronaldo himself would love to play for a club that competes in the Champions League.

The Red Devils have to accept the fact that one day or the other, they would need to part ways with the 37-year-old. Surprisingly, the star striker was pictured wearing the newly launched away kit, perhaps an indicator that he might stay on.

The legendary striker would certainly not be in his best form but he is ageing like fine wine. Even at 37, he can contribute by scoring goals and bringing an entirely new aura to any team that he signs for.
