Wes Brown is glad to have Christian Eriksen at Manchester United
According to MUTV via the club’s official site, Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown was full of praise as he welcomed Christian Eriksen to Old Trafford. The Danish midfielder has become the second signing of the Ten Hag era after Tyrell Malacia.
The former Tottenham Hotspur playmaker had put up a brave performance for the Bees last season. In 11 appearances, he was able to rack up four assists and a goal. The fans were overwhelmed by his presence on the field as he made a miraculous return from a cardiac arrest he suffered in Euro 2020.
The 30-year-old has signed a three-year deal with the Red Devils and we can’t wait to see him dawn the Red shirt. Erik Ten Hag had a huge influence on making this deal successful as he had previously trained with Eriksen.
The manager had the opportunity to train the midfielder during his recovery days. Hence, when Man United came calling, the prolific playmaker was ready to make his move. Wes Brown was particularly happy to see the Danish international arrive at Old Trafford.
Speaking at a press conference with MUTV, he said:
“I absolutely love that signing. What a fantastic player. A quality player. He’s also done it in the Premier League. I’m so happy that one’s gone through and he’s going to be a big part of this squad now.”
The 30-year-old had loads of Premier League experience as he played for seven years at Tottenham Hotspur. This would give him an edge and he would help this team to step up their game. However, the midfielder plays a similar role to Bruno Fernandes.
He has been deployed as a no.10 in the majority of his games at Spurs, but he has the experience of playing a deeper role whenever needed. This would give more options for the Dutch manager as he can rotate their positions.
It is safe to say that Manchester United needed to sign a midfielder to fill the void left by the departures of several first-team players.
