Leeds United did not want to sell Raphinha to Manchester United
There is a lot of uncertainty about our right-wing options going into the 2-22/23 campaign. After all, we don’t have a solid starter who can perform well there in the previous campaign.
Jadon Sancho, last summer’s marquee signing was switched to the left wing, where he has excelled. Due to Mason Greenwood’s indefinite suspension, the attack needs a rejig.
Since he had a solid reputation while playing in that position, Raphinha might have been the best option for our club in this situation. Because of his ability to cut in from the right to shoot on goal or thread through balls, he is especially well-suited for that position.
Manchester United tried to acquire the Brazilian winger from Leeds United during the summer transfer period. The 25-year-old was on the Red Devils’ wishlist, but in the end, he transferred to Barcelona.
Leeds ‘had no interest’ in selling their star performer to such a tough competitor and knew the Brazilian would not demand such a move.
The Lilywhites selling Raphinha to Man United during the summer transfer window was never likely. Although transfers from Leeds to the Red Devils have occurred in the past, we don’t believe the present administration would be amenable to such agreements.

Furthermore, a Leeds player who is considering joining the Red Devils right now is well aware of the fierce rivalry between the two teams and the criticism he would receive from the supporters, particularly on social media.
Raphinha chose to thrive at Camp Nou rather than Old Trafford since Barcelona are one of the biggest and most illustrious clubs in the world, similar to Manchester United.
