Transfer News: Manchester United lead Arsenal in the pursuit of Paulo Dybala

According to the Italian media outlet Corriere dello Sport [Print Edition] (h/t The Sun), Manchester United are currently leading Arsenal in pursuit of Paulo Dybala in this summer transfer window. The former has had a long-term interest in the attacker, and they could finally get their hands on him soon enough.

Dybala is available on a free transfer as of now after seeing his contract with Juventus expire this summer. He was touted to join Inter Milan, but that has not happened due to their financial difficulties. Any move would now depend on sales, which has put the deal on hold for now.

That has paved the way for other clubs to try their cards, with Man United taking advantage to become frontrunners in this race. In fact, the Argentine is open to moving to Carrington, which has put the Gunners in a difficult spot despite them being in contact with his representative.

Good move for Man Utd?

Signing the 28-year-old does have its risks, considering how he has suffered from injuries on several occasions during the past few seasons. Then again, if we can sign him on reasonable wages, then he could prove to be a solid acquisition in our current circumstances.

After all, our transfer budget would not be dented by the South American’s addition, while Erik ten Hag could also enjoy more options to work with moving forward. In fact, Dybala’s flexibility to be played in a host of positions in the attack could come in handy for the coach.

Ten Hag could use Dybala on the right wing to re-create the partnership with Cristiano Ronaldo as they did during their time together in Turin. At the same time, the Argentinian can also be utilised as a false-nine, similar to the way the boss played Dusan Tadic at Ajax.

Now that we are ahead of the competition in this race, a firm decision must be made regarding Dybala at the earliest. After all, his preference is to stay in Italy despite being ready to move to Manchester instead of joining Mikel Arteta’s side.

More Manchester United News

We cannot give Inter time to sort out their books of accounts, but they are not the only obstacle in our pathway. Our lead in this race is down to the fact that AS Roma, AC Milan and Napoli have not tabled any proposals despite their interest in the South American forward.

Hence, we must take care of this matter soon enough before any of the Serie A teams offer a deal from their side to scupper our plans. Let’s wait and see how this situation will turn out in the coming days or weeks in this transfer window.
