Fabrizio Romano: Cristiano Ronaldo absent from Manchester United training for the second straight day

According to the popular Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was absent from training for the second straight day amidst question marks over his future at the club.

It is being claimed that Ronaldo was a no-show at Carrington due to a personal issue but with his future still up in the air, it has led to an air of speculation. The Portuguese forward dropped a transfer request to the Red Devils recently.

The talented forward wanted to leave the club he joined just a season ago due to a lack of ambition as it was quoted. He is said to be exploring other options ahead of the summer and has asked Man United to sell him for the right offer.

Whilst there is no doubting Ronaldo’s abilities, it is fair to say that his return to Man United has not gone according to plan. Although he did have a fairly good season on a personal level, the same cannot be said about the team.

Man United finished a dismal sixth in the Premier League last season failing to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. They went trophyless yet again and even the signing of Ronaldo did not help them to perform any better.

The Red Devils are set to undergo an overhaul this summer and have appointed a new manager in Erik ten Hag. Whilst the Dutch manager and Man United seem to want to keep the former Real Madrid man, it seems unlikely now with the player wanting to leave.

Ronaldo played 38 games for the Red Devils side last season scoring 24 goals and providing three assists across all competitions. At 37, his numbers are still very good and he can still perform at an exceptional level.

If Ronaldo is on the market, he’ll definitely not be short of suitors. Regardless, it’s best that Man United and the Portuguese forward find a solution as soon as possible so as to focus on the next season.
