Some fans react to Manchester United announcing Tyrell Malacia as their new summer signing
According to the club’s official website, Manchester United have officially announced the signing of Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord Rotterdam. He will be their first major incoming in Erik ten Hag’s tenure as they look to facilitate a squad overhaul.
Malacia has penned a four-year contract with Man United while also having an option to extend it by another year. They have paid €15million in guaranteed amount plus €2million in bonuses to Feyenoord to complete a move for the full-back this summer.
The Dutch international has admitted that he would do his best to meet the high demands of ten Hag and help the Red Devils in the best way possible. Malacia has also given an honest verdict of his qualities and expressed that he would give his everything for the club moving forward.
“It’s an incredible feeling to have joined Manchester United. This is a new chapter for me, a new league with new teammates and a tremendous manager [Erik ten Hag] leading us. Whilst I know that I am still young and will continue to develop, I can promise the United fans that I will leave everything on the pitch every time I pull on the red shirt.”
What a move from Man Utd!
The 22-year-old’s signing looks to be one of the best pieces of business the Mancunians have done in recent times. After all, they have acquired an exciting prospect who has already made his mark even for the national team at a bargain price indeed.
Not to mention, Malacia would also solve the issues they have faced in the left-back slot in the previous season. After all, Luke Shaw did struggle to maintain his form from the 2020-21 campaign, while Alex Telles failed to express his full quality once again under a new manager in Ralf Rangnick.
While we have other options in that position, like Brandon Williams and Alvaro Fernandez as well, Malacia has covered more ground than them, making him a kind of necessity indeed. Furthermore, Telles and Williams could permanently depart while Fernandez is in line to leave on loan this summer.
In any case, the fans would hope to see Malacia do well moving forward and help the club get back to it’s glory days with the help of ten Hag’s new project. Let’s hope that the full-back will fulfil his full potential and become one of the greats for the years to come.
