Manchester United permit Andreas Pereira absence in Monday’s training session

According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United have allowed Andreas Pereira to miss out on the training session that was held today. He has seen his loan spell at Flamengo end recently and is now in line to return to Old Trafford to meet up with Erik ten Hag, whom he has prior connections with during their time together at PSV Eindhoven.

Pereira’s loan spell with the Brazilian outfit ended last week, after which he is set to return to Manchester ahead of the next season. Flamengo wanted to sign him permanently and even held talks with Man United for that reason, but a transfer failed to come to fruition in the end.

The 26-year-old has now been provided with an extra period of rest after being involved in the action with the South American side up until recently. That means Pereira has missed Monday’s training session as he undergoes a proper rest period ahead of the upcoming European campaign.

What’s next for Pereira?

Even if the Brazilian international has impressed on loan with Flamengo, it would be best if we sell him when he is at a high period and earn the maximum monetary benefit in the process. That is despite the departures we had in midfield in the form of Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata.

After all, Pereira will become a free agent when his current contract in Carrington expires next summer. That gives all the more reason to part ways with the midfielder, with Fulham giving us an option, having expressed their interest in signing him.

It has also been claimed that the South American has “very high” fitness levels after playing regularly in high altitudes during his loan spell in Brazil. Hence, he is expected to be available at all times, even if the Manchester side has to recall him early from his rest intervals.

Even so, it would be best if we do not do that, as keeping Pereira at his full fitness is necessary if selling him is in our intentions. After all, he will undergo medical procedures if a move elsewhere is facilitated. The Cottagers have already made a decent bid in the region of £11million to get hold of his signature.

IIn such a case, we should allow him to depart to join Marco Silva’s side this summer and get financially boosted in the process. Whether that will happen or not, though, would only be known in due time.
