Bayern Munich make opening offer for Manchester United target Konrad Laimer
According to German outlet Bild (h/t Express), Bayern Munich have made an opening offer for Austrian midfielder Konrad Laimer from RB Leipzig with Manchester United also said to be keen on signing the 25-year-old.
The central midfielder has been one of Leipzig’s best players for quite some seasons now and he might be ready for his next big step. After five years with the Bundesliga club, it looks like this is the summer when Laimer jumps ship.
Laimer joined Leipzig from Salzburg in 2017. The talented Austrian is a central midfielder but can also play as a defensive or an attacking midfielder. He is the perfect box-to-box midfielder and has sometimes even played on the right flank.
The 25-year-old played 42 times for the Bundesliga club this season scoring five goals and providing six assists across all competitions. With a contract that expires next summer, he could be available for a cut-price deal.
Bayern Munich has made an initial offer of £20.7million for the talented Austrian but Leipzig are supposedly looking for upwards of £26million to part ways with their prized asset and Man United still have a chance.
The interest in Laimer has been prevalent since former manager Ralf Ragnick’s time at Old Trafford. The German manager has managed the Austrian during his time with Leipzig and is set to manage him with the Austrian national team now.
One thing that we know about Ragnick is that the German coach has a keen eye for talent and has the reputation of picking up unknown players and making them into quality footballers. If he thinks Laimer would be a good fit for us, then he must have a reason.

Our priority this summer is Frenkie de Jong and there is no doubt about this. Laimer however will provide Man United with a young talented option that comes at a bargain price and hence it is an option that they will not want to pass on.
Konrad Laimer would be a sensible signing for Manchester United at the right price. It remains to be seen if we beat Bayern Munich to the signature of the Austrian.
