Transfer News: Tottenham have handed Manchester United a boost in the pursuit of Antony

According to Manchester Evening News, Tottenham agreeing a deal to sign Everton star Richarlison may have handed Manchester United a huge boost in their pursuit of Ajax star Antony.

That Man United want to sign Brazilian sensation Antony is no new news now. The talented Ajax winger has been one of the most sought-after wide men in Europe and Erik ten Hag is keen on reuniting with him at Old Trafford.

Impressing one and all with his performances for Ajax both in the Eredivisie and the Champions League and also during his time with the Brazilian national team, anyone who has seen Antony play will understand why Man United are so keen on signing the winger.

Whilst it has been expected that Ajax will not want to do their former boss any favours and will hold out a huge fee for their prized asset, at least one direct competitor in Tottenham would seemingly reduce their level of interest in Antony due to Richarlison’s imminent move.

Spurs and Antonio Conte were supposedly keen on rivalling Man United for the signature of Antony but they have decided to settle on his Brazilian counterpart Richarlison already agreeing on a deal to take him to N17 from Goodison Park.

What this has also ensured is that considering the plethora of options the Lilywhites have to lead their front line next season, it seems like Tottenham could now sell Steven Bergwijn, a player Ajax are interested in.

The Dutch champions eye Bergwijn as the perfect replacement for Antony should the Brazilian leave and they now have a very clear path to signing the talented Dutchman.

One thing that really makes Antony stand out is the fact that he is equally adept at scoring goals and creating chances for other players in the team. This is evidenced by the fact that he has 12 goals and 10 assists in 32 matches across all competitions for Ajax this season.

Predominantly a right-winger who loves cutting onto his left foot, Antony is also capable of doing a great job on the other flank. This versatility will come in handy for the manager if he wishes to switch things around.
