Manchester United rival Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid for Leicester City star Youri Tielemans
According to Manchester World, Manchester United will face off against Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid for the services of Leicester City star Youri Tielemans this summer. He has been linked with a move elsewhere, but talk over his future has died down, with an extension even being suggested right now.
Tielemans is in line to enter the final year of his current contract, which has made him added to Man United’s radar. He has been a long-term target for them, with Erik ten Hag also being open to signing him, which has rejuvenated their interest in the central midfielder.
However, Real and Tottenham have now entered the race and are actively keeping tabs on Tielemans’ current situation. Arsenal are also in the fray, but they have slowed down in their pursuit, having turned their focus to other transfer targets, according to GOAL via Manchester World.
Blow for Man Utd?
It is not surprising to see ten Hag being interested in signing the Belgian, especially after the massive exodus that we had in midfield this summer. We could have more exits in the form of James Garner, with his future being set to be determined by the pre-season friendlies.
That opens up a spot for Tielemans to have a role in our team even if Frenkie de Jong arrives ahead of the next campaign. It seems that ten Hag could deem that to be the case as well, with moves for both of them being a possibility at this moment.
That would be a great help looking at the loss in the quality we suffered in midfield at a time when we were struggling to maintain control in the centre of the pitch. That calls for the need for several additions, but that is now put at risk following Spurs’ and the Madrid club’s entry.

We cannot afford to take any of them lightly as both teams can offer Champions League football, unlike the case with us. Then again, we could offer more regular game time to Tielemans, considering how competition is very high in N17 and the Spanish capital.
Furthermore, the Gunners’ current stance gives more boost to our pursuit, although they could table a bid for the 25-year-old later in the summer transfer window. Hence, it would be best if we plan an early move for Tielemans, although it would be best to solve the issues in defence and attack at first, with de Jong being our primary focus in midfield.
