Will Fish signs new long-term contract with Manchester United

According to the club’s official websiteWill Fish has signed a new long-term contract and secured his future with Manchester United earlier today. This update is a piece of great news for those at Old Trafford, having tied down one of their promising young talents in the academy.

Fish will now see his current deal expire only after three years, but there is an option to extend it by another season. He was one of the 18 academy stars who were recently involved in the training session that was held by Erik ten Hag on Monday.

Following a loan spell at Stockport County in the first half of the previous campaign, while also captaining the England youth teams until the U-19 levels, Fish has made himself to be one of the highly-rated prospects who are tipped to reach the top in the future.

Foundations for future success!

Securing the long-term futures of rising talents would ensure that we are covered moving forward when it comes to using the academy to uplift our squad. As such, renewing the 19-year-old’s current contract is undoubtedly a great move on our part as he could prove to be a key player for us.

Fish, who is a centre-back in trade, could even play a bit-part role in ten Hag’s set-up, considering how he is currently training under the boss. That is a real possibility indeed, looking at how we are willing to entertain transfer proposals for the likes of Axel Tuanzebe, Eric Bailly and Phil Jones this summer.

Freeing up those spots in the centre-back area could certainly help Fish play some kind of role in the future, but we are also targeting reinforcements like Jurrien Timber, Lisandro Martinez and Pau Torres as of now. Then again, the academy ace could still get some minutes during cup competitions if he continues to impress in this manner.

More Manchester United News

We only reached an agreement over a new contract with another academy talent in Zidane Iqbal recently, which shows how the club is focused on protecting their long-term future. But that is not all, as Alejandro Garnacho is also in line to renew his contract despite having three years left in his contract.

Garnacho has quickly become a fan favourite for his impressive displays, so it would not be surprising to see him penning an improved contract with us. The supporters would hope to see that happen but whether that is the case or not remains to be seen.
