According to Daily Mail, Manchester United star Dean Henderson is set to undergo medical tests this week to complete his loan move to Nottingham Forest. He will go through the process and finalise the deal once he returns from his honeymoon in the next few days.

Henderson is set to join Forest on a season-long loan transfer after completing his medical at the end of this week. He has already accepted the proposal as he is eager to earn regular minutes, with the 2022 Qatar World Cup drawing close with each passing day.

The move is expected to be announced in the coming days, with the England international having agreed to personal terms over the temporary move. He is keen to get back into contention to get into Gareth Southgate’s plans and would look to use this loan to make a case for himself.

A great move for all parties?

It seems that Erik ten Hag is happy to let the 25-year-old shot-stopper depart this summer. After all, ten Hag would have stopped this deal if Henderson was in his plans for the upcoming campaign. If that is the case, forcibly keeping hold of the keeper would not have made sense at all.

That is because we need to create a healthy atmosphere within the dressing room to ensure harmony in the team. Unhappy players could disrupt that, considering how Henderson could have become one had we made him stay to continue to be a backup goalkeeper.

Fortunately, that is not what happened, as ten Hag appears to have decided to trust David de Gea between the posts. In any case, we would know from this next season whether de Gea can adapt the way the manager wants his keepers to play, looking at Andre Onana at Ajax, for example.

Henderson, meanwhile, could become a starter at City Ground, considering how Brice Samba is open to leaving Steve Cooper’s side this summer. That means the former could earn consistent minutes and gain valuable time under his belt, which can be used to convince Southgate in the coming months.

Furthermore, perhaps Henderson could also make an impact on ten Hag since he would be playing in the Premier League as well. Both Man United keepers would be competing on an equal playing field to an extent which could give the coach a clear picture about who his future shot-stopper should be.
