Manchester United star Andreas Pereira reveals his desire to stay at Flamengo
Manchester United star Andreas Pereira has expressed his desire to stay with Flamengo beyond this summer transfer window. He was on a season-long loan with them for the previous campaign and is set to return to England today as the deal has officially expired.
Pereira has seen his time with Man United turn out to become quite frustrating over the years as he failed to live up to expectations. That being said, some fans thought that perhaps he could remain in Manchester and kickstart his career under Erik ten Hag after the midfield exodus they had this summer.
However, that is not in Pereira’s plans, according to his latest revelation. Speaking in an interview with Raisa Simplicio of Brazil Global Tour (h/t Fabrizio Romano on Twitter), the midfielder confirmed that he wants to remain with the Brazilian outfit, but he admits how his future is in the hands of the Red Devils.
“I’m not the one who decides – it’s up to Man United. I would like to stay at Flamengo, but it’s not in my hands. I’ll see what’s best for me and the club. I love Flamengo. We will soon speak and decide.”
Man Utd’s plans for Pereira?
Earlier this month, Vene Casagrande via The Sun claimed that the potential permanent transfer to the South American side had collapsed as both parties failed to agree to the fee involved. There is no reason to see why we would accept a discounted price when Pereira has been excellent for them during his loan spell.
Apart from the high-profile mistake that cost Flamengo the Copa Libertadores final, Pereira has been splendid for them in midfield. As such, we must not budge on our demands, especially when there is interest from Fulham for the Brazilian’s signature.
Even Crystal Palace is touted to be a probable destination for the 26-year-old giving us all the more reason to stay firm on our stance. That is especially the case when the Cottagers have already tabled quite a decent bid of €13million to get their hands on Pereira.
Getting the maximum funds possible is an important factor for us in our current delicate situation. There is no reason to see why the Manchester board would not allow the South American to join Flamengo permanently if a higher offer is made.
Even though Pereira’s signing has not worked out the way it was expected to, the Mancunians would still like to keep him happy if an appropriate proposal is received from Flamengo. He did say that talks are planned with his loan club so let’s wait and see how that develops in the coming days.

It has been a long time that Pereira’s future at United has been uncertain. It is clear that his move to Manchester hasn’t worked out and the player himself says he wants to stay in Brazil- his home country.
This is a deal we would be wise to wrap up at the earliest. With Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard and Paul Pogba having already left, we are cleaning house this summer. Whether Pereira is next remains to be seen.
