Transfer News: Manchester United identify Ajax star Nicolas Tagliafico as a potential target
According to Daily Mail, Manchester United have identified Ajax star Nicolas Tagliafico as a potential target for this summer transfer window. The 29-year-old could be in line to reunite with his former manager Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford should the stars align to facilitate a possible move.
Man United have expressed their interest in signing Tagliafico from the Dutch club this summer. They are looking to improve their defensive options and have turned to the Argentine for that reason. However, their pursuit would depend on whether they can sell some out-of-favour players ahead of the next season.
Brandom Williams is one such option which would free up a role in the left-back position. Alex Telles is also touted to become a potential outgoing, which would give more incentive for the Red Devils to chase after Tagliafico in this transfer window.
Tagliafico to Man Utd on the cards?
Fortunately, the Manchester side has some leeway to work with at this moment when it comes to their attempt to sign Tagliafico. That is because there are others on the shortlist who have been deemed dispensable, which would make it easier when it comes to our pursuit of the defender.
Eric Bailly and Phil Jones are among them, which would certainly be helpful even if it could be difficult to find suitors for fringe players like them. In any case, let’s wait and find out if the Mancunians can succeed in their attempt to offload these players.
In a boost to ten Hag’s side, Fabrizio Romano has already confirmed that Tagliafico is expected to depart the Eredivisie club this summer. That being said, he has attracted a host of attention from other interested parties, which would make it difficult for us.

Alvaro Fernandez is not ready to take up a more prominent role as he could use some time away from Manchester on loan. That paves the way for Tagliafico to join us, but whether that will happen or not would need to be seen.
