Transfer News: Manchester United in talks with Dundee Utd for Dylan Levitt loan move

According to Football Scotland, Manchester United are currently engaged in talks with Dundee United regarding a potential loan move for Dylan Levitt. He was on loan with them in the previous campaign and could be in line to re-join them after enjoying a great spell with them last time around.

Man United had triggered a one-year extension in Levitt’s contract after he had impressed on loan with Dundee last season. Discussions between both clubs are ongoing at this moment, to allow him to depart on a temporary move once again this summer.

It is believed that the Welsh international would have other options ahead of him as well. Erik ten Hag, meanwhile, is also set to give his approval to allow Levitt to depart Old Trafford on a loan deal. Whether an agreement can be reached between the Red Devils and the Scottish outfit or not remains to be seen.

Does Levitt have a future at Man Utd?

One might have thought that Levitt would at least be given a chance to impress ten Hag when the pre-season starts in the future. However, that seems to be not on the cards as the boss has allowed the midfielder to depart in this transfer window.

Following the exits of Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic, our midfield has been left quite short-handed especially considering how the five substitution rule will come into effect from the next season onwards. However, even that seems not to have given Levitt a chance to prove his worth.

Perhaps that could be down to James Garner, who had impressed on loan at Nottingham Forest and could be in ten Hag’s plans ahead of Levitt. In any case, the latter would receive enough chances in the future if he can follow up on his impressive loan spell from the previous campaign.

That could also be down to Levitt himself, as he wants to earn regular minutes in the first team to earn a spot in the national team ahead of the 2022 Qatar World Cup. He has recently broken through into the Wales set-up, and his performance against Poland in the recent Nations League, in particular, was among his best.

The 21-year-old often played as a central midfielder for the Scottish Premiership side last season but also had a fair bit of time in the holding midfield as well. He scored six goals alongside an assist from 30 appearances across all competitions for them during that period.

Hence, a return to Jack Ross’ side would do Levitt wonders, as he would have a familiar ground to build on his promise in the future. However, it is up to both clubs to strike a deal in this summer transfer window.
