Manchester United earmark Watford star Daniel Bachmann to replace Dean Henderson
According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United have identified Watford star Daniel Bachmann as their primary backup target for the goalkeeper role this summer. He has dropped down to the Championship with his side and could perhaps be persuaded to join us for that reason.
Dean Henderson is set to join Nottingham Forest on a loan move in this summer transfer window. That means we need a replacement for him ahead of the next season, with Bachmann being lined up as the top target ahead of the next season.
Bachmann would compete with Tom Heaton for the number two role just behind David de Gea should he be signed. Negotiations between Man United and the Hornets are underway, but whether an agreement can be reached for the Austrian ace or not remains to be seen in the coming weeks.
Bachmann to Man Utd?
Since Henderson would return to Old Trafford after his season-long with Forest next summer, it would be best if we sign Bachmann on a temporary move as well. After all, signing the 27-year-old on a permanent transfer could prove to be a waste of money in the future.
That is if Henderson gets into Erik ten Hag’s plans after impressing on loan with the Reds in the upcoming campaign. Then again, we have to wait and see whether the Championship side and Bachmann would entertain approaches from our side this summer.
One would think that Bachmann would accept our proposal as he is a backup goalkeeper right now. Being a second-fiddle in the Premier League is a much better prospect than playing in the second division, with cup competitions probably being reserved for the second-choice shot-stopper.

If Rob Edwards’ side remains adamant that they are not interested in any advances apart from a permanent transfer, we must look to reduce the cost as much as possible. After all, they were relegated last season, which gives us the ability to take advantage of their financial hit to meet our needs.
Let’s hope to see some incoming happen soon enough, as fans have grown frustrated about how slow the rebuilding process has been so far. With Henderson’s departure, replacing him is necessary, but whether Bachmann will be that man or not would need to be seen as time passes on.
