Manchester United are keen to use their financial might to beat Brentford to Christian Eriksen
According to Sky Sports, Manchester United have offered a more lucrative contract than Brentford to Christian Eriksen to convince him to join them this summer. He has not made a final decision on his future just yet, with the former looking to make themselves an attractive proposition with a better deal.
Eriksen is in line to become a free agent when his current contract with the Bees expires this month. Man United and Brentford have claimed to make attractive proposals for the attacking midfielder, but Erik ten Hag’s side have tabled a better wage package as of now.
The Dane’s decision on his next club appears to be between the Red Devils and Thomas Frank’s side right now, as Tottenham Hotspur are unlikely to become his next destination. Brentford have certain advantages on their side, such as Eriksen and his family being settled in London at this moment.
Can Man Utd convince Eriksen?
There is no doubt that our decline over the years would have dampened our attractiveness when it comes to convincing top-quality players. However, we are now handed a chance to find our feet once again under ten Hag as the Manchester club look to facilitate a squad overhaul for a rebuild this summer.
Following Paul Pogba’s departure to Juventus, we lack a creative fulcrum in our midfield who can also instil control into our game. Bruno Fernandes is more of a final ball player, while Donny van de Beek’s strengths lie in making runs into the opposition box.
Eriksen will be a great option to boost our midfield in such a case if his performances after returning to action are anything to be considered. In fact, when compared to our midfielders, he tops stats like opportunities created, big chances created, crosses and expected assists while also being second to Fernandes in passes in the final third.
That gives us all the more reason to do our best to convince Eriksen to join us this summer. However, even with the better financial package, that is not considered a priority for the 30-year-old right now, which means that we must address the other factors as well.

Being a regular is one of the concerns that we must take care of, as the Premier League ace is keeping his eyes on the 2022 Qatar World Cup right now. The Danish connection at Brentford is another factor that is a roadblock, while there are hesitations about relocating to Manchester as well.
The midfield has been an issue for us for quite a long time, so the possibility of signing a world-class player like Eriksen on a free transfer is something that we must fight for in the best way possible. Ten Hag allowed the midfielder to train at Ajax to attain full fitness after the cardiac arrest. But whether that will help us in this case or not, though, remains to be seen.
