Manchester United eye Stuttgart star Sasa Kalajdzic amidst Chelsea transfer interest

According to reporter Manuel Veth of Transfermarkt on Twitter (h/t The Sun), Manchester United are targeting a move for Stuttgart star Sasa Kalajdzic amidst interest from Chelsea for a potential transfer this summer. He has earned a host of attention from several major clubs across Europe following his heroic displays to help his side win the relegation battle last season.

Man United are one such club who have been impressed by Kalajdzic’s performances, which has prompted them to target him for a potential move. However, they will face competition from the Blues, who have retained their interest in the striker, with Romelu Lukaku returning to Inter Milan on loan.

The Red Devils are faced with more obstacles in their pathway, with clubs like Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City, Bayern Munchen and Borussia Dortmund all pursuing Kalajdzic as well ahead of the next campaign. Among them, Dortmund may not be a threat as they are unlikely to actively chase him with Ajax star Sebastien Haller nearing a move to Signal Iduna Park.

Kalajdzic- Cavani replacement?

Since Edinson Cavani has left Old Trafford on a free transfer, there is a gap in the attacking department that must be filled for our best interests. Cristiano Ronaldo is not at a point in his career where he can play week in and week out throughout the entire campaign.

In fact, Ronaldo himself realises that and wants the Manchester club to sign a centre-forward this summer. Marcus Rashford can play there, but he is on the back of a depressing season while Mason Greenwood has been suspended indefinitely.

Finally, Anthony Martial looks set to leave this summer as he is not in Erik ten Hag’s plans for the upcoming campaign, which calls for the need to search the market for ideal reinforcements. Kalajdzic would be a great signing indeed, looking at his progress over the last two years or so.

Kalajdzic was injured for a large part of the previous season, which played a major part in Stuttgart struggling at the bottom end of the league table. However, since his return, the Austrian international has made 15 Bundesliga appearances for them, scoring six goals and assisting twice to help them retain top-flight status.

More Manchester United News

The 24-year-old was just as impressive in the 2020-21 campaign, which means that these performances were not simply a purple patch either. In fact, the number of interests he has gathered should be enough to convince those in Manchester about his quality and the impact he could make in our team.

Competition seems to be quite hefty at this point, so perhaps we could use our prior relationship with Ralf Rangnick to recommend Kalajdzic for a move to Old Trafford. Rangnick is Austria’s national team boss, so we may potentially gain an edge over our rival using his help.
