Transfer News: Roma manager Jose Mourinho wants to sign Manchester United ace Cristiano Ronaldo
According to La Repubblica (h/t Sun), Serie A giants Roma’s manager Jose Mourinho wants to pull off a shocking transfer for Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.
Ronaldo joined Man United from Juventus back in the summer and has had a great season with a struggling Red Devils team. Reuniting with the club where he became a superstar all those years again was expected to be a fairytale.
The 37-year-old has played 39 times for the Red Devils this season scoring 24 goals and providing three assists across all competitions. Whilst these numbers are definitely not bad, there is a feeling that he does not fit into the team’s playing style anymore.

Erik ten Hag is set to become the new manager at Manchester United and there is a feeling prevalent that the Portuguese superstar might not fit into the kind of style the Dutch tactician wants his team to play.
Unlikely proposition?
If Cristiano Ronaldo indeed chooses to join Roma, he would be reuniting with former boss Jose Mourinho in Italy.
However, at this stage, it seems extremely unlikely that at this stage of his career, Ronaldo might want to join Roma or Sporting Lisbon, two clubs linked with the forward. He might be 37, but the Portuguese forward still has time left in the top flight.

The former Real Madrid man is likely to stick around for the Erik ten Hag era next season and it will be interesting to see how the Dutch tactician decides to use the Portuguese superstar and integrate him in his plans.
Ronaldo still performs at a very high level and although he is no longer the player that he used to be once upon a time, he still has enough and more quality to continue at a club of Manchester United’s stature despite the absence of Champions League football.
