Manchester United take “concrete steps” to sign Juventus star Adrien Rabiot
According to the Italian outlet Calciomercato (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United have taken some “concrete steps” to sign Juventus star Adrien Rabiot in this summer transfer window. The midfielder has been linked with a move elsewhere from Allianz Stadium, having failed to reach the heights he was expected to reach since signing him.
Rabiot is in line to enter the final year of his current contract in Turin, which has forced his future into uncertain waters. While it is stated that he could remain with Juve beyond this summer, a move to the Premier League or Paris Saint-Germain has also been touted, with Man United showing an interest as well.
The Bianconeri are ready to part ways with the Frenchman on a cut-price deal worth €15million this summer. The Red Devils have made significant strides in this pursuit, having deemed their midfield as the most priority area ahead of the next season.
Rabiot, right choice for Man Utd?
The 27-year-old has not performed at his best over the past two years or so when compared to his days at PSG. In such a case, pursuing the central midfielder is not the most attractive decision that the Manchester club have made, especially in this dire time of need.
However, looking at the Serie A ace’s current valuation, that is a great market opportunity indeed, which should at least be assessed by the Manchester club. In fact, the fee is claimed to be “not a problem” for Man United and would suit our transfer budget that is stated to be around £120million before sales, according to The Independent.
The Mancunian board must first discuss the matter with Erik ten Hag and find out whether Rabiot can get into the boss’ plans moving forward. If that is the case, then perhaps there is a chance that ten Hag can help the midfielder find his feet which could be useful for us in the end.

Then again, we also have to wait and see whether Rabiot would be entertained by the prospect of joining us this summer. PSG could be a potential destination, and they would also offer the value of an emotional return alongside Champions League football, unlike us.
So we have some challenges to overcome if there are plans to sign the French international to bolster our midfield. Following the exits of Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata on free transfers, we are left quite shorthanded in midfield and perhaps taking advantage of this market opportunity could help us to continue our pursuit of top targets like Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong.
