Victor Osimhen undecided about his future amidst Manchester United links

Speaking in an interview to Il Corriere dello Sport as quoted by the Mirror, Napoli forward Victor Osimhen has insisted that no decision has been made about his future amidst links to Manchester United ahead of this summer.

The Napoli forward joined the Serie A club from Lille in 2020 and has since then gone on to become one of the sought-after strikers in Europe. The Nigerian forward has grown from strength to strength during his time at Naples.

The 23-year-old striker has played 32 times for the Serie A giants this season scoring 18 goals and providing six assists across all competitions. Such numbers have attracted the creme de la creme of Europe to be interested in the player.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with the Nigerian player and speaking on his future, Osimhen said

“My future? I know there are many rumours about Spain and England. But I don’t think it’s the right time to talk about it now that I’m with the national team. I don’t know what the future has in store for me, I know that anything can happen. Now, I want to go on holiday now and recharge and then we’ll think about the rest.”

Good option?

Having just seen Manchester United sign Erling Haaland and Liverpool signing Darwin Nunez, it could be Man United’s turn to bring in another quality young centre-forward this summer.

Osimhen has shown in his time at Napoli that he has all the skills required to succeed at a club of Man United’s stature. He has scored goals on a consistent basis for the Serie A giants which is something any buying club will be looking for.

The 23-year-old forward could come to Old Trafford as a rotation option for the evergreen Cristiano Ronaldo, learn from the great man himself and then take over from him when the Portuguese superstar’s time comes to an end.

At 37, Ronaldo will not be expected to play all the games and definitely not the whole ninety minutes in all games. With Edinson Cavani leaving the club, Man United will be in the hunt for a rotational option and Osimhen could be the perfect player for this.
