Transfer News: Manchester United to bid for Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves
According to 90 min (h/t Express), Manchester United are set to make a bid for talented Portuguese midfielder Ruben Neves from Wolves.
Neves joined Wolves from Porto in 2017 and has since then gone on to become one of the most promising midfielders in the Premier league. The Portuguese midfielder is extremely talented and one of Wolves’ most important players.
The 25-year-old has played 36 games for Bruno Lage’s team this season scoring four goals and providing two assists across all competitions. With a contract that expires in 2024, Wolves will have to sell him this summer if they want to make maximum value for their prized asset.
João Paulinha is expected to join Wolves imminently and this is expected to pave the way for Man United to bid for the talented midfielder very soon.
Midfield reinforcement?
It is no secret that the midfield is an area that the Red Devils will have to improve this summer and Ruben Neves could be an option.
Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata are all expected to leave the club this summer. Fred and Scott McTominay have been exceptional for the Red Devils sometimes but also frustrating on other occasions.
It is no secret that United are being linked with a move for Frenkie de Jong for quite some time now and the Barcelona man is probably their priority with regards to signing in the midfield area for next season.
Pairing the Dutchman with Ruben Neves could just be the perfect midfield however for the Red Devils. The Portuguese can be more restrained and play a deeper role, giving de Jong the chance to play further forward.
