Manchester United to make a transfer approach for Jude Bellingham next summer

According to Laurie Whitwell via UtdPlug on Twitter (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United will not make an approach for Jude Bellingham this summer transfer window, instead, they would only target him at the end of the next season. He is widely recognised by many as one of the best young midfield talents in world football right now.

Bellingham stands top of Man United’s shortlist, which comprises various midfield options. That being said, the English side will not target him this summer as they recognise that there is no chance for him to leave anytime soon. That is despite their intention to sign a new midfielder to back Erik ten Hag.

John Murtough was involved in the negotiations when the Red Devils tried to convince the England international to join them after leaving Birmingham City. However, Bellingham opted to join Borussia Dortmund instead, although Murtough would probably look to rectify that blow next time around.

The right stance from Man Utd?

It is certainly understandable why the Manchester club have decided to go down this route, especially if the 18-year-old will not be made available this summer. After all, it would not be wise to chase a losing race as it would be a waste of time and effort anyway.

Considering how we are set to lose Paul Pogba on a free transfer this summer, there is quite a need to replace him at the earliest. However, that may not be possible at this moment as we are busy with the pursuit of Frenkie de Jong in search of a natural holding midfielder due to Nemanja Matic’s exit as well.

Not to mention, we also have other positions to take care of, so it may be in our best interest that the pursuit of Bellingham has been pushed forward. Signing him would undoubtedly be a massive statement from our side, especially when we are looking to undergo a fresh start under ten Hag.

Bellingham, who has already become a key starter for Dortmund and Gareth Southgate’s England, would uplift our midfield with his immense quality. Furthermore, his tendency to get in on the goal involvements would be a bonus that would be of great help to ten Hag if we sign him.

Then again, we must also prepare for potential suitors who would probably target the Bundesliga prospect in the future. After all, it would not be too much of a reach to say that top clubs would be interested in signing one of the best talents in world football right now.

Let’s hope that our second attempt to sign Bellingham will end up being successful when we chase after him at the end of the upcoming campaign.
