PSV Eindhoven star Ibrahim Sangare linked to Liverpool amidst Manchester United transfer interest
According to Sky Sports, PSV Eindhoven star Ibrahim Sangare is linked with a move to Liverpool amidst interest from Manchester United for a potential transfer. He was one of the best in his positions last season, having been at the top of the charts for key stats during that period.
Man United are set to back Erik ten Hag with signings in the summer transfer window. The midfield is one such area that is expected to be strengthened as they look to facilitate a rebuild for a better future. They have identified Sangare as an option to meet their needs, with ten Hag having first-hand experience of the midfielder during their time together in the Netherlands.
However, the Red Devils would need to be wary of Jurgen Klopp’s side as they are one of the potential destinations for Sangare as well. Newcastle United and Chelsea are the two remaining interested parties who are pursuing the Ivory Coast midfielder ahead of the next campaign.

Sangare to Old Trafford on the cards?
It has already been confirmed that Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic will be leaving when their contract expires at the end of this month. That would seriously reduce our options in the pivot positions as Fred and Scott McTominay are the two other senior team players available in the squad as of now.
Hannibal Mejbri has been in and around the first team set up towards the tail end of Ralf Rangnick’s tenure. While Mejbri has shown impressive fighting spirit in the midfield, the lack of composure shows how he has a long way to go before becoming a dependable option for us in the long term.
That puts into perspective how we desperately need to sign a holding midfielder this summer which makes Sangare a perfect addition under the current circumstance. He topped the charts for most interceptions made in the Eredivisie last season, while he is second on the list for total tackles and possessions won in the final third.

The 24-year-old would not cost much either, as he has a low release clause of £29.9million, which is considerably lower than Frenkie de Jong’s valuation set by Barcelona at around £65million. We have also expressed an interest in de Jong, so perhaps we should take a more reasonable stance in this matter as we need to bolster other areas in the squad as well.
Fortunately, Sangare has already made up his mind to move to the Premier League this summer, but we would need to overcome the other competitors in our way. The Merseysiders particularly look to be the major challenge that we need to overcome looking at their sporting stature in recent years.

The Reds have Fabinho in their ranks which could see Sangare get fewer minutes if he moves to Anfield but that can’t rule out both of them playing together in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield. Perhaps we can use that to our advantage, although the Blues and Newcastle would probably do their part to make things difficult for us.
