Transfer News: Bayern Munich could rival Manchester United for Napoli star Victor Osimhen
According to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio on wettfreunde (h/t The Sun), Bayern Munich could join the race and rival Manchester United for the signature of Napoli star Victor Osimhen on a potential transfer move. He enjoyed yet another solid season for his side, which seems to have attracted attention from several European clubs.
Man United have already expressed their interest in signing Osimhen ahead of the summer transfer window. They are searching the market for attacking additions to back Erik ten Hag moving forward. They are not alone, though, as Premier League sides like Arsenal and Newcastle United are in the mix right now as well.
However, Bayern Munchen could now enter the fray as they could lose Robert Lewandowski, who wants to leave them this summer. They are looking for long term replacements at this moment and could decide to turn their attention towards Osimhen for that reason.
“Bayern Munich could be the only club being interested in Osimhen, with the Lewandowski situation.”

Bayern to cause problems for Man Utd?
It is pretty clear at this point how we need to bring in a quality centre-forward this summer to improve our options in the attack ahead of the next campaign. After all, we are set to lose Edinson Cavani on a free transfer at the end of this month, which leaves us with just Cristiano Ronaldo as our only striker.
While Ronaldo has done a solid job, he is not in his prime days and would have to be replaced in the future anyway. Furthermore, we have also been over-reliant on him for goals, which is not ideal for a balanced system. As such, there is a need to bring in a quality addition which is where Osimhen could come in for us.
Ever since leaving Lille, Osimhen has continued to improve on his game and has even added physical play to dominate opposition defenders. That, coupled with his electric pace, makes him an attractive target indeed, although it remains to be seen if he would end up at Old Trafford or not this summer.

While the Red Devils have shown an interest, Di Marzio has suggested that no PL club would probably move for the Nigerian international due to his high £85million valuation. That is quite understandable, considering how we have several areas that need to be worked upon rather than just making a large investment on one single position.

That means Bayern could be the only side that will actively pursue the 23-year-old this summer. At the same time, one could say that allowing them to complete a move for the African would essentially reduce our options in the future.
Hence, the board have to make a reasonable decision on this matter as we would probably deal with a trade-off situation under the current circumstance. We have also been linked with Darwin Nunez, so if we can get him for a lower price, then that route would be the best one to choose in this case.
