Manchester United get transfer boost as Feyenoord willing to sell Tyrell Malacia

According to the Dutch publication Voetbal International (h/t The Mirror), Manchester United have been given a boost as Feyenoord are finally willing to sell Tyrell Malacia in the upcoming transfer window. The former are looking to back Erik ten Hag by enjoying a successful summer by bringing in Erik ten Hag’s desired targets.

Ten Hag is now planning to make Malacia his first signing following this latest development. While there are other targets on the shortlist, it appears that the defender’s transfer would be the easiest now that the Dutch side are open to parting ways with the full-back. That being said, Man United would need to keep an eye out for Olympique Lyonnais, who are in this transfer race as well.

Olympic Lyon made two bids for the Dutch international, but both offers have been rejected by the Eredivisie club. Dubbed by the supporters as “pitbull” for his aggressive style of play, Malacia has already been scouted by several sides, including the Red Devils, last season. Hence, it remains to be seen if other interested parties would enter the fray moving forward as well.

Man United’s plans for the left-back slot?

It will be interesting to see what ten Hag’s plans are for the left-back position considering he already has several options for that role. The Manchester outfit are open to accepting proposals for Brandon Williams, which means that he could have reached the end of the road for his time at Carrington.

That still leaves Alex Telles, Luke Shaw and Alvaro Fernandez in the squad, who can slot into the left-hand side of the defence. Perhaps, Telles could be joining Williams on the way out as he has struggled to replicate the form he had shown at Porto.

As for Fernandez, he could use some time away on loan to get slowly integrated into senior football rather than a straight jump to the first-team set-up. Shaw, meanwhile, has endured some injury issues, which could pave the way for Malacia to have a role in our ranks.

That being said, our main priority now should be to convince Malacia regarding a transfer to Old Trafford this summer. The 22-year-old has expressed that he will decide on his future only after returning from his international duty with the Netherlands.

That would give us some time to make a best case for ourselves which must be done at all costs if there are active plans to sign him. With Lyon proving to be an obstacle on our pathway, we must quickly act before they reach an agreement with Feyenoord over a potential move.
