Manchester United get transfer boost as Chelsea willing to accept bids for N’Golo Kante
According to Metro, Manchester United have received a boost in their pursuit of N’Golo Kante as Chelsea are ready to accept bids for him ahead of next season. The former are searching the market for midfield reinforcements this summer as they look to improve their options to back Erik ten Hag.
Man United have already prioritised bolstering their midfield in the upcoming summer transfer window. They have several options on their shortlist at this point, with Kante being one among them. They are looking to sign him despite being a major player for Thomas Tuchel’s side.
The Red Devils are even assessing their options to table a transfer bid for the French midfielder this summer. Now, they are boosted by the fact that the Blues are open to entertaining proposals for Kante, which could potentially pave the way for a move to Old Trafford soon enough.
Should Man Utd target Kante?
No one can argue against the fact that the 31-year-old has been one of the best in the business in the Premier League over the past few campaigns. Signing Kante at the peak of his powers would have been a no-brainer, but things have been different over the previous year.
After all, the Blues ace has struggled to keep himself fit for large durations, which was highlighted by Tuchel last month. Kante’s regressing fitness has been noticeable even before that, although things have taken a turn for the worse in the last term.
Perhaps, Kante’s struggles are down to his playstyle as he has earned quite a name for himself for his engine in midfield which appears to have taken a toll on his body. That may just explain why the West London side is looking to part ways with the central midfielder ahead of this summer.
As such, the Mancunians must seriously reconsider their stance as it is not wise to take such a risk, especially when we are in a delicate situation. After all, we lack quality options in the base of midfield, with Fred and Scott McTominay being the only real choices ahead of the upcoming season.
Hannibal Mejbri could have a spot, but he has room for growth which is evident in his short spells under Ralf Rangnick. James Garner is another option, but his future will depend on Erik ten Hag’s assessment during pre-season.

Since we are set to lose Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic this summer, it would be best to sign someone more dependable rather than targeting Kante looking at his poor fitness in the last year. A younger star who can command our midfield in the long run could appeal more to our fans.
