Transfer News: Manchester United are pushing for the signature of Juventus star Adrien Rabiot
According to transfer news from Calciomercato.com, Manchester United have intensified dialogue in their pursuit of Adrien Rabiot and Juventus are keeping their ears open.
Under Massimiliano Allegri, the Frenchman has had a promising second half of the season at the Allianz Stadium, where he has been a regular in the starting XI. The 27-year-old has made 45 appearances in total, often in the centre and left of midfield.
Rabiot’s contract expires in 2023, and Manchester United have been linked with a move for him. Nemanja Matić, Paul Pogba and Juan Mata, the Red Devils’ key midfielders, are leaving the club in the summer window when their contract ends, hence they will need to be replaced sooner or later.
Although Chelsea are interested, United are seen to be pushing for his signature. The Red Devils are believed to have intensified talks in the last few hours, which have attracted the attention of the Frenchman who is currently ‘thinking’ about the switch.
It is believed that Juventus are keeping their ears open to the possibility of a transfer. Even though Juventus expects to raise €20 million (£17m) from his transfer, they are willing to accept as low as €15 million (£12.8m) to engineer Rabiot’s move.
How can Rabiot help United?
Manchester United lacked the creativity in the midfield last season, which resulted in fewer chances for the frontline. Even though Fred and Scott McTominay have proven to be useful under Ralf Rangnick, they have been rarely able to start and participate in an attacking move effectively. Bruno Fernandes didn’t have an influencing spell either, which has raised a lot of problems.
Manchester United have been linked with Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong. However, considering Nemanja Matić, Paul Pogba and Juan Mata are leaving, one midfield reinforcement might not be enough for United.
