Manchester United handed transfer boost as Braga star David Carmo eyes Premier League move
According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United have received a boost in their pursuit of Braga star David Carmo as he is eager to move to the Premier League. He has been in sensational form since returning from a long term injury having picked things off from where he left off before the setback.
Earlier this week, it was claimed that Man United held two rounds of talks with Carmo’s camp regarding a potential move. The English side are planning to reinforce their centre-back options prompting them to go down this route. That being said, he is only considered as a fall back for now.
That is because Ajax Amsterdam starlet Jurrien Timber is viewed as the primary target ahead of the next season. However, the Dutch side have become more confident about keeping hold of their young ace. As such, Carmo’s interest in moving to the English top-flight would certainly help the Red Devils should they target him this summer.
Would Carmo join Man Utd?
It is quite well known at this point how there is a need to improve our defensive options ahead of the next campaign. After all, we have often struggled to maintain solidity at the back throughout the last term, which has caused us several issues during that period.
Fabrizio Romano recently confirmed that the Manchester side have decided to sell Axel Tuanzebe and Eric Bailly this summer. That alone frees up some spots in the defensive roster, which we must address at the earliest. Phil Jones could also join them as a potential departure adding to the list of reasons.s.
That would leave us pretty stretched in terms of our options in the centre-half role, especially when we have to deal with the rigours involved in a long season. Carmo would be a great option in such a case, but the defender does realise that he is not the priority for us at this moment.

Whether that would influence the Portuguese central defender regarding a decision on his future or not remains to be seen. The 22-year-old has all the qualities to become a top centre-back, and he has shown no signs of being affected by the terrible injury he had suffered before returning to contention.
However, the current situation gives us all the more reason to reach a firm conclusion regarding our pursuit to sign Timber this summer. After all, that is likely to determine how we would approach Carmo moving forward, so let’s hope to see a clear picture as soon as possible.
Portuguese source A Bola (h/t Manchester Evening News) adds that Carmo’s exit is “inevitable” in the upcoming summer transfer window, so we have to be careful about other PL sides who may potentially decide to target him if we stall for too long.
