Borussia Dortmund make contract offer to Paulo Dybala amidst Manchester United interest
According to the Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport (h/t The Sun), Borussia Dortmund have proposed a contract offer to Paulo Dybala amidst interest from Manchester United for a summer move. He is set to leave Juventus at the end of this season, and several clubs are circling to get their hands on the attacker.
Dybala is out of contract at the end of the current campaign, and he will depart Juve this summer. Man United have already entered themselves in the transfer race, and it seems that they will now face new competition from Dortmund. The latter has put an offer “on the plate” to the forward for a potential move.
This update would undoubtedly be a blow to the Red Devils and their plans to secure the Argentine’s signature. They will also need to deal with multiple other clubs like Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Inter Milan, who are also interested in his services.
Should Man Utd sign Dybala?
The 28-year-old has enjoyed a solid term so far despite being hampered by injuries this season as well. The forward has scored 14 goals alongside six assists during this period from 35 matches across all competitions. That is despite the Bianconeri themselves going through a rough phase under Massimiliano Allegri.
Signing Dybala on a free transfer is a great prospect indeed, but any move would not be easy for us at all. After all, we would need to battle a host of clubs to complete a move for the Serie A ace. With the Bundesliga side now expressing their interest, our task has been made even more difficult this summer.
What would concern fans the most is how the German club can offer the prospect of playing in the Champions League, which is likely to elude us for the next campaign. It is normal for top footballers to demand the option to feature in this highly prestigious competition which could prove to be an obstacle for us.
The South American can be more or less considered a necessary signing since we lack a dependable option on the right-hand side of the attack. Marcus Rashford has been playing there, but it is clear that he is not comfortable in that role looking at his subdued displays this season.
The likes of Jadon Sancho and Anthony Elanga have found success on the left-wing under Ralf Rangnick, which opens up a spot for Dybala to stamp his authority in our squad. However, we have a lot of ground to cover before a transfer can be finalised, which is especially the case because of our rivals who are in a better situation than us for now.

Amad Diallo was loaned out to Rangers this season in the hopes of the Ivory Coast international making a name for himself in Scotland. While the Scottish club has made the UEFA Europa League final, Diallo has struggled for playing time.
Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo, who played with Dybala at Juve during his Serie A days, is also not getting any younger while Mason Greenwood’s suspension means there is a spot to be filled up front. Dybala or not, the Red Devils must look for a comparatively young attacking option to future-proof their squad.
