Transfer News: Arsenal register interest in Manchester United star Marcus Rashford
According to Football Insider (h/t Manchester Evening News), Arsenal have registered their interest in securing the services of Manchester United star Marcus Rashford in the summer transfer window. He has been really poor this season, having failed to recapture the form he had shown last season.
The Gunners are eager to bring in at least one attacker after the current campaign. As such, they have identified Rashford as an option, with him being “a leading target” for them at this point. He is currently considering his future prospects at Old Trafford, but whether he would move to a direct rival or not remains to be seen.
The Englishman will discuss his role with the Red Devils after Erik ten Hag takes over the wheel from the next season onwards. It is stated that the striker is looking towards the end of this term for a fresh start under the incoming manager to put behind his current struggles in the past.
Can Rashford turn things around?
The 24-year-old is currently a shadow of his former self, having failed to show even a glimpse of his form looking at the previous season. Ever since the surgery, he simply has not performed regularly at a desirable level, which has contributed to our struggles this term.
However, it would be very reactionary to deem the Premier League ace to be dispensable from just one campaign. After all, he could potentially change his fortunes under Ten Hag and get back to his best self, as he has shown in the past.
As such, we should not entertain any approaches from the North London side unless we receive approval from the Ajax boss to sell the academy graduate. Even so, it would not be best to bolster one of your direct rivals so arguments can be made that their offers must not be entertained in any case.

Edinson Cavani is out of contract this summer, and he is expected to depart on a free transfer. Cristiano Ronaldo would eventually have to be replaced, while Mason Greenwood’s future is also uncertain, just like Anthony Martial. In such a case, it may not be wise to get rid of Rashford, who could find his lost mojo moving forward.
We have experienced how good Rashford has been for us in the past, so we must remain confident in him to get over the current plight. While questions can be raised about his mentality and the effort he puts in at times, perhaps the club’s current state could be rubbing off on him. Hence, it would be best to make a final decision on him after referring to Ten Hag.
