Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is’ curious’ to hear out Manchester United before making a decision on his future

According to The Athletic (Subscription Required), Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is said to be curious about what Manchester United have to say regarding a potential summer move before making a decision on his future in north London.

The Englishman is in hot form at the moment, bursting into life under new manager Antonio Conte since the beginning of the new year. The Italian head coach has helped rediscover his form after the forward started poorly in the early stages of the campaign when Nuno Espirito Santo was in charge of the side.

Kane was last seen running the show for Spurs in their 5-1 demolition of Newcastle United, with the player dropping deep to create opportunities for his teammates as they put four goals past the Magpies in the second half alone.

He proved against Eddie Howe’s team that he was not just an effective goalscorer, but also a fantastic playmaker as he teed up teammate Matt Doherty for a brilliant header to give his side the lead in the second period of the game.

Curious about United interest

United’s own struggles in front of goal this season make it certain that they want him in the summer. The England captain is said to be curious to hear them out and see if they have anything attractive to offer him that would convince him to swap north London for Manchester ahead of the new campaign.

The 28-year-old has not committed his long-term future to Tottenham and has another two years left on his contract deal after the current season. However, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is unlikely to sell Kane to a domestic rival given that it would signal to Conte that the Lilywhites were not interested in competing next term.

With the Red Devils hungry for more goals this season, they re-signed a familiar face in Cristiano Ronaldo earlier in the campaign to fire them to success. However, the 37-year-old has struggled to impose himself in the league despite starting brightly.

Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford have not been able to assist him in the goalscoring duties, with the former never available for long due to his continual injury issues while the latter has waned in his performances since last year. Man United boast of big names in their squad, but none have lived up to their reputation.

Kane in that respect has never failed to deliver. Although this season started slowly for the England international, he has returned to become the player we all know him to be. He has arguably been the Premier League’s most consistent scorer since he made his senior debut for Tottenham and has fired them to top-four finishes and come close to breaking their long-standing trophy drought.

The Red Devils seem to be facing the same problems that Spurs have been struggling with, with the Manchester side having now gone five years without winning any silverware. The problems may be similar at Man United and Tottenham, but at Old Trafford, Kane has the platform to become a bigger star than he already is by playing for one of the world’s biggest and most reputed clubs.

We have seen some of the league’s best strikers join our ranks in the past to take their careers to the next level and win titles, and if we were to convince Kane to do the same at the end of the season, then we are sure to break our trophy drought imminently.
